Winter Session at Binghamton University
In 2005 Binghamton University conducted its first Winter Session. During that pilot program, a total of 14 classes were offered with an enrollment of 303. Of the 14 classes, four were offered through Distance Learning. Due to immense popularity among students, Winter Session has grown to a vibrant and important element in the University’s academic year. In 2009, 55 classes were offered, 39 through Distance Learning, with an enrollment of 1,025. Enrollment in Distance Learning classes was 807.
In 2007 and 2009 student and faculty evaluations were conducted to assess impressions of quality and satisfaction with the teaching and learning environment available through Winter Session. Evaluations were strong and suggestions for improvement were acted upon to further strengthen the quality, programming, and services provided. You may view the survey results at the links below.
Winter Session meets the educational needs and learning preferences of our students, New York State residents and nonresidents alike. With this report I extend my appreciation to the dedicated professionals who made this Binghamton success story possible.
