Winter Session Registration
Students register for winter courses online using the BU Brain Portal at: https://buonline.binghamton.edu/banner/bwckschd.p_disp_dyn_sched.
Non-Binghamton students or former Binghamton students who have not been in attendance need to be admitted or readmitted before they can register (see Winter Session Admission).
Permission of Instructor or Department
Some courses require permission of the instructor or department before you can be registered and are so noted in the Schedule of Classes. You should go to or contact the department office to inquire about registering.
Under no circumstances is credit granted to students not properly registered in a course for credit.
Auditors
Students may not audit courses during Winter Session.
Credit Limits
All courses carry four credits unless otherwise noted.
Dropping a Course or Withdrawing from the University
Students who wish their records to indicate good standing when dropping a course or withdrawing from the Winter Session must follow formal drop and withdrawal procedures. Mere absence from class does not constitute due notice of drop or withdrawal. Students who stop attending a course for which they are registered are liable for payment unless the proper drop or withdrawal forms are submitted.
In general, any Winter Session student may drop or withdraw from a course using the BU Brain Portal up until the published deadline (see 2010 Winter Session Dates & Deadlines).
After the course withdraw deadline, students who wish to withdraw from their course for the Winter Session must come into the Registrar's Office to pick up a late withdrawal form. Note: Students may not withdraw online after the withdrawal deadline.
Independent Study, Internships, Thesis and Dissertation Courses
Students enrolling in non-classroom courses such as independent study, thesis and dissertation research, etc., must register for these courses by the appropriate dates. All courses offered during the Winter Session are subject to the same add, drop and withdrawal dates.
